Its sharp spiral threads provide a secure grip on the centers of the material being held. This Mandrel - Arbor can be used with many rotary tools, including Drills, and its tapered threads accommodate small Buffing Wheels, Rubberized and Polishing Felt Buffs, Points, Cones, Bullet shapes, and Cylinders.
