Inferno, helmed by Italian directors Francesco Bertolini, Adolfo Padovan, and Giuseppe de Liguorois, was one of cinema's earliest feature-length films, notably one of the first horror movies to grace the big screen. Spanning three years, from 1908 to 1911, their achievements with special effects and minimal rules are astonishing. Loosely adapted from Alighieri's poem, 'Dante's Inferno' follows Dante (Salvatore Papa) navigating the Nine Circles of Hell, symbolizing human sins on Earth. This edition boasts a new commentary and three exclusive scores. Presented in black and white, a 'Red Tint' version offers a more infernal appearance, a technique used in the early 20th century to prevent copying. This unseen version, an international English copy post-1911 release, features English intertitles.
